Where are followers of Jesus when it comes to the peace process in the Middle East? It seems like we’re all over the place. Some say we’re peacemakers, and we’re on the side of peace. Others say that the Bible makes it clear. There will be no real peace until God intervenes, until Jesus the Messiah shows up. So what does that mean for us? Can we, from our hearts, really hope and work for peace, not only in the Middle East but anywhere in the world?
In a region marked by ethnic, religious, and political lines in the sand, Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers.” But the rabbi from Nazareth also said there would be no real peace until He returns. So how do two of his followers— one Arab, the other Jewish—make sense of Jesus’ words? “Following Jesus in a Land of Conflict: An Arab and Jewish Conversation,” on this Day of Discovery.
